Hello! I am Kanae, a nationally licensed guide. While working full-time as a lecturer at a local university in Kyoto, I have also been guiding for two years.
Born and raised in Kyoto, I am excited to share the beauty and culture of my hometown with my customers. Kyoto is an enchanting city, and even as a local, I am continually fascinated by its many charming spots. Whether it's the serene temples, vibrant markets, or hidden gems, there is always something new to explore and appreciate in this wonderful city.
Also, since my home is close to Shiga Prefecture, I am very familiar with the area. While Shiga may not be as popular as Kyoto, it offers a wealth of attractions for tourists. From historical sites such as temples and shrines to the stunning natural beauty of Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, there is much to see and do. I am passionate about promoting Shiga and sharing its unique charm with visitors.
Well organized, perfect planed trip with amazing guide who has huge knowladge and knows how to make everybody happy. Perfect for adults as well as for kids. If you will come to Kyoto don't miss trip with Kanae. She can shows you real Kyoto, hiden gems, wonderful places and she will do it with really very nice way.
A fantastic walk through an area that without Kanae you couldn’t comfortable navigate yourself without experience or knowledge of the area. Kanae was very supportive during the walk, offering cold drinks and towels due to the very hot September weather. She also went out of her way to begin the tour earlier than planned so we could better avoid the hot mid-day. Kanae also accompanied us to a nice café after the walk for some well-needed refreshments, then took us to her son’s favourite ramen bar which is certainly now my favourite too. The hike itself wasn’t too physically challenging provided you have even some basic hiking activity under your belt. The heat was rough, but Kanae’s preparation was invaluable. The iced lychee salt drinks she brought were delicious. She patiently waited with us whilst we enjoyed the many great views and sights or took quick breathers. Thank you for a great hike Kanae!

We had a fantastic day with Kanae! She was exceptionally helpful and was happy to accommodate us. She drove us around Kyoto for the day, taking us to the temples and areas we wanted to visit. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Kanae again when we come back to Kyoto.

Kanae was amazing, we had a great time! Due to Kyoto’s transportation system it is difficult to see all the main sights with limited time, but with Kanae’s help we saw all the major spots in one day and customized the places we wanted to visit too. We learned about the history behind them. We loved the early bird option as we wanted to avoid the crowds and got some amazing photos. She also showed us beautiful places off the beaten path and took us to an authentic Japanese lunch as well. The tour involves some walking which we enjoyed.
